Carrick has accepted United's proposal and will sign his new contract in the coming days, Fabrizio Romano reports.

It only remains to be seen whether the contract will run until 2028 with an option for another year or directly until June 2029.

United considered several options but have now decided to stick with Michael Carrick after his impressive spell as interim coach.
